Fiat Chrysler's New Infotainment System is 5 Times Faster, Answers to 'Alexa' Fiat Chrysler’s next-generation infotainment system will be up to five times faster and offer personalized settings and Amazon.com Inc.'s Alexa personal assistant. The upgrades with the fifth-generation Uconnect touchscreen system that were announced Monday come as vehicle sales slowly retreat from a 2016 peak and in-vehicle technology is a growing must for consumers. Cadillac Expects Record Global Sales in 2020 – CT6 Sedan Officially Dead Cadillac expects to achieve its third-consecutive year of record global sales in 2020, according to head of the General Motors luxury brand. Those expectations, according to Cadillac President Steve Carlisle, will be led by continued double-digit sales gains in China this year despite some economic uncertainty and slowing sales in the country, primarily in the mass-market. Ford Proposes $30M-Plus Settlement in Transmission Suit Ford Motor Co. has proposed a $30 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit regarding faulty transmissions Focus and Fiesta vehicles it no longer sells in the U.S. Multiple lawsuits, including a class-action suit that began in April 2017, have been filed on behalf of car owners unhappy with the transmissions, known internally as the DPS6. Dual-clutch gearboxes like the DPS6 typically shift rougher than other automatic gearboxes to which North American drivers are accustomed. The Ford transmissions also needed frequent repairs for quality issues the developed over time with the clutch and clutch seals, among other things. Source: The Detroit News
Fiat Chrysler Files Motions to Dismiss GM's Racketeering Lawsuit Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV filed two motions Friday seeking to dismiss a lawsuit brought by crosstown rival General Motors Co., GM -1.63% arguing that GM doesn’t have grounds to bring a racketeering case alleging bribery of union officials. In court documents filed Friday in Michigan, Fiat Chrysler argues GM’s lawsuit doesn’t adequately meet the requirements for proceeding with a civil case under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO. That includes lacking an ability to prove the Italian-American auto maker was operating a criminal enterprise through its relations with the United Auto Workers union, the court filings show.
